Its not that much, but the best part is that everything else is paid for already (school, bus/train tickets, food, room, etc.). Yea it's not nice to have a bad family experience. But it helps you learn! I had four families in one year. You dont stay in the same house the whole time.

At 1:27pm on May 27th, 2008, Sarah said…: For me it was only about 50 euros, some other exchangees recieved over a 100. It's pocket money so it can be used for whatever we want. The families are from other exchangees. They have a son or daughter on exchange, so they must take you in themselves. They are really great! I had some bad ones, but two WONDERFUL families, who I am in contact with to this day. Rotary is a huge organization and is great.

At 1:00pm on May 24th, 2008, Sarah said…: Woa that would be cool! I did an exchange my senior year of high school in finland. Have you ever heard of rotary? They are a pretty big exchange program organizer. I think they have college exchanges too. They are great because once they accept you, they give you a monthly allowance/pay for trips inside the host country and stuff. But your idea sounds better!

My mom was from belfast, northern ireland, and moved to germany when she was 18 and stayed here for along time...spoke german, but never taught it to us! It was in germany where she met my dad, so I was really drawn here. I didnt know I would fall in love so fast though... =) I wish she had spoken it to us as kids, but she probably didnt feel like her german was good enough or something. Im going to make sure any kids I have can speak more than english. I think it's a wonderful opprotunity for them. I know it's been great for my job search. Am I rambling? Yea I know the feeling. Im always moving places, looking for something just beyond my reach.

Im an army brat so Ive lived in a lot of places...the only place I could say is sort of like home is texas, because I was the longest time there (about 8 years). Other than that my dad lives in chicago and comes from there so I always tell people that's where Im from. Im kind of a lost soul =). Right now my heart is in germany...so they always say home is where the heart is. But my hearts pretty spread out around the world with all the people I love.

Enough with the confusing stuff. Germany's fun! It's an intense culture.

I'm feeling good btw! Long story, but I'm feeling quite good, and renewed even though I fell again, I managed to protect myself much better this time, and I'm feeling very good emotionally right now regardless of stupid pain. ;-)
