I agree, don't make any hasty decisions just yet...remember you gotta take the full charts of you both in to account, not just sun signs. Also these periods of distance are supposed to even out alot the longer you are together, so don't worry too much, there is still plenty of reason to hope.
I understand us cancers love our security, but I personally changed alot in my last relationship (with another cancer) I don't know about the rest of his chart but he was so smothering, and the arguments were pure torture, he was always around and it made me feel very suffocated, so this relationship so far, suits me better than that one did, I can handle the distant spells...I guess what I need personally is just reassurance, that he is in it for the long haul and wont disapear forever. But after reading what people here have to say I do feel much more confident about this relationship and it's potential.
Remember too that life is a series of challenges to help us grow, and often the things we experience that don't totally suit us force us to look at aspects of our own personalities and change/grow accordingly. Even if it does fizzle out at least there are new challenges and lessons learnt and it all has an impact on the amazing people we become.

Just read through your last message again, In your situation I would definitely just give him the space he needs no questions asked, ignore your friends, he has made a specific request of you and I would honour it. He will probably respect you and feel even more for you as a result. I know that aquas ARE scared of their emotions, but I also know that they compartmentalise areas of their lives, so he probably does just want to buckle down to his studies without feeling bad if he does not contact you. Aquarians are known for losing themselves in one thing at a time...hence him 'bringing so much to the table' as then his main focus was on you. I believe in your case that will return, and he has in essence let you know where you stand. I really wouldn't worry one bit sweetie, he will be back and with more energy and devotion. To me your situation seems clear, if only I could find as much clarity over my own, it has been just over two weeks now since I heard from him and he is still in my thoughts as much as the first few days. I keep going over everything to find clues as to whether I did anything wrong or warning signs that he wasn't really as interested as I wanted him to be but there are none, he seemed very in to me in every way. It's such a strange feeling, nothing has changed for me but I have no idea what he is thinking or feeling, and I cannot get him out of my head, it just seems so unfinshed.

But I know he has other things going on in his life that are difficult, its certainly no excuse but I have tried to work out whats going on in his head and I know it isn't good. It's especially hard cos not only have a lost my boyfriend but also a very dear friend of over a decade, I really am so confused.
I'm sure your guy will be back, if he told you he just needs a little time, let him have it without question, I figured out quickly that these down periods are their way of being sure. xx
