Ha! When I first heard that song,I liked it and this was in "87" but I hadn't heard it in years until it was sampled by Bone-thugs-n-harmony "dayz of our lives"then I'd miss the original one and I finally came across it on demand. It's a lovely deep veined song,I feel it completely when I listen to it,it reminds me of a spring-summer's night rain or evening rain when the sky turns deep blue.
~The Definition of a Modern Renaissance Woman~
A woman who approaches life for the sole purpose of the experience.
She recognizes the benefit of broadening her horizons.
She acknowledges that learning is a lifetime endeavor.
She knows that true happiness results in finding balance.
She seeks beauty and wisdom in the unexpected and appreciates the little things.
She understands that she has been created for such a time as this and embraces her destiny as a challenge and not a curse, no matter what her personal circumstances.
MY LIFE:
I am a modern renaissance woman striving to become self-actualized and artistically established. I hate materialism. The most precious things in life are priceless. I put more value on the world/people around me and the wealth of experience and challenges that comes my way.
My best feature is my smile and I LOVE to laugh. Sometimes at nothing at all. My aim is to project positive energy at all times. What makes me unique is my open-mindedness, eager aptitude for learning, my diverse repertoire of interests, and impulsivity.
I love to be active, social and on the go but, I also love relaxing and my own space. It's my dream to make NYC my permanent home and travel globally.
MY ASPIRATIONS:
My main goals in life are to establish myself as a serial entrepreneur.
My 20s are devoted to multimedia/web/graphic design. I'm teaching myself web design from scratch and hope to utilize my ideas to create a internet company.
My 30s will be devoted to fashion. I want to create my own line of vintage and retro-inspired clothing and accessories with a modern edge.
My 40s - (hopefully I will have mad money by then) I will pursue my love of architecture by investing in urban development ventures that stimulate economic diversity in urban environments. I want to attack gentrification since I believe it's a ploy to push out the havenots to give more to the haves. It's ridiculous how city officials abandon neighborhoods until they find something profitable in it, then kick out all the people who've lived there just to boost the economy and line their coffers.
My 50s - I want to open an art/design conservatory devoted to spreading my legacy of learning and experience. It's follow along the lines of Fabrica without the age restrictions. People of all cultures, ages and experiences can come together and be creative.
After that I just want to bask in the glow of all that I have accomplished and inspire others to create their own legacy.
MY RELIGION:
I'm somewhat skeptical about organized religion. I don't believe in judgmental factions that oppose people and lifestyles dissimilar to their own. Someone who lives their life entirely from a book has no sense of reality or the world around them. I have no beef with any particular religion, because fanatics reside in all religions. However, I never knew how to articulate my spiritual beliefs into words until I saw "Kingdom of Heaven." The hospitaler tells Orlando Bloom, after Bloom declares that he has lost his religion and therefore is outside of God's grace. The hospitaler replies that "I put no stock in religion. By the word, 'religion,' I have seen the lunacy of fanatics of every denomination be called the will of God. Holiness is in right action and courage on the behalf of those who cannot defend themselves. And goodness-what god desires- is [in the heart] and [in the mind]. By what you decide to do everyday, you will be a good man... or not."

My Favorite Things
I love anyone who is interesting and fun. Anyone who loves the fact that they are different from everyone else but, still manages to be down to earth. I love people who live for more than themselves. People who are aware or try to enlighten themselves to the world outside "their world." People who aren't afraid to learn new things, go to new places, and meet new faces. I also like those who do not discriminate people based on their own beliefs and are open to other opinions. People who are secure in their own skin, mind and soul. People who keep it real and don't let anyone get them down. People who are not afraid to fight for whom or what they believe in. I want to meet true people.
Who I'd Like to Marry: Jon Stewart and David Duchovny
I love sharp, biting wit, oodles of intelligence, charmingly devilish charisma and swagger. But these guys are incredibly down to earth too! I love it.
One secret about me: I will fall easily and HARD for a man that inspires me and pushes me to be the better me. He gets mad kudos with that and tons of reciprocation!
HOBBIES:
Movies, Music, Dancing, Traveling, Film/Motion Graphics/Graphic Design, Fashion, Architecture/Interior Design/Furniture Design, Writing(Hell... being creative is a full-time interest), Volleyball, working with my hands, experiencing new cultures, learning new things and meeting new people, Blogging; That's right! Now I blog! Who da thunk it?
MOVIES:
I'm a filmmaker. I love movies. But, my one of my all-time favorites is In the Mood for Love by Wong Kar-Wai. Some call him pretentious but, I call him a visionary. A man of minimalistic dialogue, vivid, inspiring, passionate color and carefully composed cinematography. A master of showing instead of telling. Plus, I love his ear for music. His films are driven by the score and it not only enhances his way of storytelling, it plays an essential character. My favorite actors and actresses are Billy Bob Thorton, Angelina Jolie, Patricia Clarkson, Shirley Maclaine, Sean Penn, and Mary-Louise Parker.
TV:
Californication (Hank Moody is my new love!), True Blood (Lafayette is my BOY!), Dexter, Swingtown, Weeds, Nip/Tuck, Crossing Jordan, Six Feet Under, The Sopranos, Wonderfalls, anything on A&E, Bio or CourtTV (excuse me-TruTV as of 1/1/08) dealing with autopsies and forensics (I know it's really morbid, but I used to want to be a medical examiner when I was younger, so learning about the techniques the use to catch killers is fascinating).
MUSIC:
My iPod consists of mainly lounge, scores, world, acid jazz, downtempo, alternative, classic soul and R&B. I love music that gets me in the right mood which makes me vulnerable to many genres. I'm not into much country or mainstream (top 40) pop/hip-hop/rap/r&b, unless it speaks to my soul. Some of the music people put out is so disposable that it's easier to sift through the bullshit than it was when musicians first decided to sell music instead of express themselves.
BOOKS:
My all-time favorite book is ", The Picture of Dorian Gray", by Oscar Wilde. Despite the book being around 80 years old or more, there is an abundance of symbolism in that book that is still relevant to the world today. But what I'm reading now are "The Anti 9 to 5 Guide," "The Renaissance Soul" and "The 4-Hour Work Week." I'm also digesting anything relating to graphic design, motion graphics and writing. The three books that have inspired me enough to want to adapt them into films are "Diary of a Survivor" and "Memoirs of a Geisha" and "Falling Leaves." However, since someone beat me to the punch with "Memoirs," so I guess I will gladly settle for the other two.
